November 10th – Food

I’m thankful for food.

Technically, I’m reminded every day to be grateful for it – but so often, my “thank You for this food” is habit. Sincere, I think, but not very aware.

Every day, He provides. I have always had enough – and more.

I’m thankful for the taste, texture, and design of food. Just think about bananas – they come in perfect packages, just waiting to be peeled and enjoyed! (And they fit perfectly into our hands). Flavors were made to mix and meld and complement; ingredients are designed to combine into new and interesting things.

Food is a necessity, true; but it’s also delightful.

There’s a reason that He says, “taste and see that the LORD is good.”

I think we understand His goodness at a very tangible level through taste.

Coffee, chocolate, sun-warmed strawberries; freshly baked bread, cheddar cheese, grilled chicken. Yes, He is good.

There are lots of other ways we see His goodness –  but in a daily, down-to-earth and happy way, He teaches us in our eating and drinking.

Thank You, Lord, for food.

Thank You for providing for us every day; and thank You that You are our true daily Bread.
